Are you a writer who has interesting or important things to say, but you struggle to find the best way to share your story or your expertise?
Are you interested in being the best writer you can be without giving the job over to A.I.?
Do you want to feel more confident in using grammar, spelling, and punctuation?
Do you want to make friends who understand the challenges of writing and who will cheer you on? And provide some accountability too?
Atelier by Stormy Pine is a workshop for writers who want to improve their writing craft, build confidence, and have some fun with friends along the way.
It welcomes both fiction and nonfiction authors, as well as business people who don’t consider themselves authors, but who do all the writing for their business.

LC Plaunt has spent most of her life studying and working with language. Before becoming an editor, she was a teacher who taught from grade two to post-graduate students.
She holds the following credentials:
Honours Bachelor of Science in Language from Laurentian University
Bachelor of Education from The University of Ottawa
Master of Education from The University of Western Ontario (also known as Western University)
Certificate in Editing from The University of Chicago
Before you think that she must be a stuffy academic, let me assure you that she is not. She takes writing seriously—she has read The Chicago Manual of Style twice—but she also loves wordplay. Her goal is to make this group both beneficial and enjoyable.
A note about spelling: This company and LC are both Canadian, and we use Canadian spelling as our default. Canadian spelling is sometimes similar to British English, sometimes similar to American English, and is a hybrid of the two. LC did her entire program at The University of Chicago in American spelling, so she is pretty fluent in that too. Inside the group, LC will be happy to discuss the variations between Canadian, British, American, and Australian English, or any other English represented by members.

Writing Workshop
This isn’t like school. It isn’t a course. It’s fun and thoughtful activities that you do with others on Zoom. Participation is encouraged, but never mandatory. If you are an introvert, you don’t have to turn on your camera or microphone. You can participate through chat. If there is a question you don’t want to answer, you can pass. This group is meant to be supportive. All activities are completely voluntary, but by participating you increase your chance to spark new ideas, defeat writer's block, and build confidence in your writing skills.
If you can’t make the Zoom, some questions and resources from these sessions will be put in the forum. These sessions will not be recorded.

Each quarter, we will study two books. One will be a book on craft, and the other will be a book that we will read with a writer’s eye. What craft elements that we just studied are evident in the second book? How were they used and to what advantage? These sessions will be recorded. The first book study meeting will be July 20, 2026. We will give you the book titles in your welcome email.
These first two components alternate, so the time commitment to participate in both is between 60 and 90 minutes per week.

Each week we will have a one-hour Zoom call where we focus on our own projects. Two sprints with a short break between. Depending on what you need, you may spend the sprint writing, editing, or doing research. Your only commitment is to do focused work on your project—quietly with others.

The forum is always open. No matter what time zone you are in, you can participate when you want to. Here you will be able to get to know other members, ask and answer questions, and brainstorm ideas with other participants.
There will be a new post each day in the Conversation Hub that will include information and opportunities to share. There will be channels where you can brainstorm with others, or find resources based on Zoom activities or on questions you ask the editor. Watch the video tour in the Featured section of the forum to see what is available to you.

We are in Canada in the Eastern time zone. We will have people in this group from all around the world, so finding a time for Zoom calls that suits everyone is a challenge. To serve as many of you as possible, we will have two of each call. The content will be the same for any session on the same day; you can attend the call that best suits your schedule.
Monday sessions alternate between Writing Workshop and Book Study. Tuesdays are for Writing Sprints.
Call times:
3:00 p.m. Eastern, 2:00 p.m. Central, 1:00 p.m. Mountain, 12:00 p.m. Pacific, 8:00 p.m. UK
8:00 p.m. Eastern, 7:00 p.m. Central, 6:00 p.m. Mountain, 5:00 p.m. Pacific, 1:00 a.m. UK
Australia is somewhere between 13 and 15 hours later than Eastern—so the next day.
